Pork Chops, Beef Steak & The Pioneer Woman!

Wow what an experience!! I have to thank my lovely man (Kyle) for taking a 2 hour detour on our trip home from Texas to visit The Pioneer Woman‘s new restaurant, Mercantile. My sister (in Texas) recently had a little baby boy, so a trip to TX was in order. Mercantile opened three weeks ago in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and I just had to throw it into our travel plans. I was elated when Kyle agreed to the detour!

The Pioneer Woman (Ree Drummond) has been such an inspiration to me. What a treat, for this southern belle, to actually get to meet her in person! I’m so grateful we were able to have a few minutes to talk with her, even though it was about 30mins after closing time. She was very genuine, warm, kind and thoughtful. I felt like a giddy teenager as she signed her cookbook for me.

I have been following her for awhile now, and she is one of my inspirations for bluberrypancakesforever.com. The Pioneer Woman has put her heart and soul into all of her successes, and I really admire that about her. Her ability to bring everyone together through all of the mediums she’s using is quite amazing! To me she is an instrument of love, and who doesn’t need that?

Now let’s get to the food!

It was fantastic! We ordered the Marlboro Man Sandwich and Fried Pork Chops. Yumm! The beef on the sandwich was so tender and full of amazing flavor, and those homemade potato chips … delicious! The pork chops were also very tender, and I really enjoyed the creamy onion sauce on top. Since we had about 2 hours before we got back home to Kansas, we bagged up our left overs, and added a sweet treat – Strawberry Cake! So good!!

Also, as a Graphic Designer I couldn’t help but notice the beautiful, elegant, vintage logo and welcoming aesthetics of Mercantile.

We couldn’t leave without visiting the merch side of Mercantile. There are so many cute items to choose from! If you’ve seen the Pioneer Woman line of cookware at Walmart, just double that and you’ll kind of get a feel of what the shop is like there. Amazing!

Thank you so much Ree Drummand for this one-of-a-kind experience. I highly recommend taking the detour to Mercantile on your next trip through OK!

If you aren’t already follow The Pioneer Woman on Instagram!

I am forever grateful for Kyle!<3
